App Research

We have decided to build an app to go along with our marketing portfolio. The app will be a nice addition to our marketing, to allow people to interact with our film and amerce themselves with the theme of the film. I have never used app development software before so I will be conducting allot of research which I will document for future use.

Apps can be made extremely complicated or fairly simple. You can have basic information apps which a designer updates the information produced then sends that information out to users. You can have automatic applications or real-time applications like social media app’s Facebook, Twitter etc. Interactive applications such as games and applications which house media players which stream online from sources all over the world such as youtube or Spotify.

I have used some of these applications for inspiration and researched how these apps were designed.

Understanding the complexity of building some of the more interactive apps and comparing that to what we need, I have decided that we only need a basic news thread application. To build this app I need to research further the programs available and which will be the most suitable to use.

Having researched the different programs available I feel Adobe XD will be the best program to use. Although it is basic and doesn’t require any coding, for what we are trying to create this program will be sufficient.

Final decision

I will be using a new Adobe program called Adobe XD, alongside Photoshop to design and create the app.

Being a new program I have looked at various youtube tutorials and guides to get to grips with the functionality of Adobe XD, this will also help me with design by previewing other designers work and how they operate.

Having learnt my way around the Adobe 😄 editor I can make a start on my app. The app will be a basic design outlineing the current news and missing people (following the theme of our missing people blog and website)
