As producer it is my job to come up with a concept which will be fun and interesting, whilst complying to the requirements of the short film. It is also required of me to manage locations and castings.
The concept that I have created and pitched is loosely based on the tale: The Little Red Riding Hood. The idea is to have a lonely Red travelling to the Gran’s house, lonely and vulnerable, and eventually arriving at the house to find an “innocent” Gran who really wants Red’s blood to remain youthful. There will be a struggle / final fight scene before Red kills her Grandmother in a brutal bashing. The genre of this film will land in the thriller/horror catergory with a hint of contemporary humour to keep the film current, as this will be a modern twist on the tale.
Some inspirations for this concept include: Scream (the Netflix original series), Pretty Little Liars and True Blood, as the target audience for this film are young adults, who may watch these shows.
With the concept complete the next thing to do before even beginning the script is to create a premise, synopsis and treatment that will be posted on Bethan’s section of the blog.
