Locations

Scene 1: Forest

The first scene is set in a woodland/forest area which Red will cut though as a short cut to The Grandmother’s house. This will be a reference to the original tale where Little Red Riding Hood meets the Big Bad Wolf in the woods. As I am unfamiliar with the outside areas of Cardiff I could only suggest shooting in places such as Bute Park and a park in Adamstown.

Harrison suggested filming outside his house because there is a woodland area and trail which is quiet in the evenings so we wouldn’t be disturbed. As his house is just outside it is also convenient for storing equipment and travel to and from the location. Below are pictures of the location.

Scene 2: House

After we knew where we were shooting the teaser trailer and first scene, next I had to think about where we would shoot the rest of the film. As the second scene takes place at the Grandmother’s house the best kind of location is one that is basic but homely, which is exactly the house which we were able to use thanks to Jack Bird.

The team have all been inside Jack’s house before so we all knew the layout of the living room, kitchen and hallway so all I had to do was ask Jack if we could use his house to film on the 12th of December. Luckily there were no issues with this because although he was using his house to film also, his team did not need the downstairs floor.

As we wanted to get a clip of Red walking inside from outside we planned to be careful with equipment outside protect lights from the rain with umbrellas and cameras with their covers. We also planned on having someone man the equipment outside so nothing would get taken. Below is a picture of the outside:
