News Report

We decided that for our website we wanted to add more than was needed. We were told we’d need some pictures, sound, text or video to make it look realistic and to get more marks. We’ve decided to add all of these elements into our missing people website
In order to do this we decided to film a quick news report about a young missing girl, we could also use this at the start of our short film to set the scene and let the audience immediately know whats going on.

We decided to hire out a Sony Nx5, tripod and lapel mic to film this news report. We used the actor, Marcus Watling, as we have worked with him before and thought he would fit really well into a news report as he’s very professional and smart.
We filmed on the balcony of uni as news reports are normally filmed on scene and we thought this set up looked realistic and was a nice background.
As the news report was only short it didn’t take longer than half an hour to film and won’t take long to edit.

Here is some pictures from filming the news report:

HAZARD ASSESMENT FORM (II)

HAZARD IDENTIFIED + RISK            PRECAUTIONS TAKEN

SLIP/TRIP HAZARDS

There are 2 little steps on the balcony and as it is outside they may be wet from bad weather so we will have to be cautious. There will also be a long wire connecting the boom mic to the camera so all members of the crew will need to be careful of these.

ANIMALS (WILD)

As we are filming outside there is always a possibility that there will be birds flying around, we will need to make sure the equipment is always kept safe and will work around the noise.

PUBLIC OR AUDIENCE

The balcony in uni is open to the public, therefore any students could come out any time during filming. We will need to have someone keep an eye on the door to make sure no one disrupts our shoot.

WEATHER EXPOSURE

As it is coming into Winter now, the weather is rather unpredictable. And as we’re filming outside our shoot may be affected by this. We will have to make sure when we film there’s no chance of rain and that the boom mic is covered with a wind sock to eliminate background noise.

WORKING AT HEIGHT

The balcony is on the second floor of the Atrium, this means that it is rather high. There is a railing to make sure no one falls, but we will make sure no one is too close to the edge at any time or acting stupidly.
