Filming Crime watch video

Today we filmed the studio section of our crime watch video. We all met up at the University to film this video with our actor Marcus. We had booked out the television studio for a couple of hours to ensure that we had enough time to film everything that needed to be filmed. When we got into the studio we instantly set up the equipment, this included a Sony FS5 Camera, tripod, 2 LED light panels, and a tascam Dr-40. When doing the lighting, we did come across a small problem of the light reflecting on the tv screen behind Marcus. We needed to use the television as it has the information of our website and the crime on it, just like a real crime watch video does. After moving the lights around a few times and then the TV, we eventually found a position where the quality of the television was good. We were then able to carry on with filming.

Daniel had already given Marcus the script for filming, but to make it more realistic, throughout the filming he was looking at an iPad which had his lines on. So if he were to forget any of his lines, he would be able to refer to the iPad.

Even though there was a microphone positioned on top of the camera, to ensure that the sound quality was even clearer, we positioned Dan sitting on the floor next to Marcus with a Tascam recorder. We obviously made sure that he wasn’t visible when we were filming, but he was close enough to where the sound quality was good.

Apart from the lighting problem at the beginning of filming, overall it went really well. We all knew what we had to do when we go into the studio, therefore it was quick and easy. We were also lucky enough to once again be working with Marcus, who is always a professional and reliable actor when it comes to learning his lines. I think the final result will be very nice.
