We have been set a task to create a vampire themed short film, in groups of four or more. We will take on the rolls of producer, director, audio & design and camera. We will also write our stories and present them in class, then choose from the stories which to work on.

Oct 13th 2016 – Synopsis
We have decided to work on Dan’s story. I will take on the roll of audio and sound design. Hear is the synopsis of Dan’s story which we will present in class today.
Red (main character, late teens) reads about disappearances of young women in her village. Her mother leaves to check on her grandmother, says she won’t be long.
Mother doesn’t return, Red gets worried, there’s a knock at the door but Red doesn’t open it. She hears a crash in the kitchen finds a middle aged woman claiming to be her grandmother.
Red cuts her finger and discovers that her grandmother is a vampire and has killed her mother, and the other missing girls, to remain youthful. There is a struggle between them with Red ending up killing her grandmother.
Oct 17th 2016 – Class session and photoshop
Today in university we have met in our groups to discuss further ideas and create social media links to our project. I have created a Logo/Tag for our project Redemption, by sourcing the font online and using photoshop to enhance the font to make it unique.
Following todays lesson we have decided to create a 10-15 second teaser trailer which we will get out and record tomorrow, it will give a brief idea of how our film will look. We will present this in our presentation next week. I also conducted soundtrack research in todays lesson and created a separate word press page with my research results.
Oct 18th 2016 – Trailer Filming
Today myself, Harrison, Dan, Bethan and our actor Laura went into a wooded area around llanerdyn, with cameras and lighting equipment. We filmed some shots to create our short teaser trailer. The shoot went extremely well the shots looked great and just what we wanted in the area that we used.
Oct 20th – Trailer Editing & Sound Design reserch
Today we are finishing the editing for our teaser trailer. Harrison has done most of the videography and colour correcting and I will be adding the audio to the clips. I have sourced creepy sounds from online pools and created/recorded some myself. Using adobe audition I mastered and edited the sounds then imported and matched them up to the video.

Oct 24th – Presentation Day
Today I have recorded a short news podcast. This podcast will feature on our website (to be made) and other places such as social media. The podcast consists of a missing persons report and information on said person. I recorded this podcast in my ‘Home Studio’ Using a sure 58 microphone feeding into my pioneer S9 and recording the audio on Serato. I then imported the recorded audio into Adobe audition and used different SFX so make the audio sound as if its coming from a radio & a tv.
Nov 7th – Media ideas & Start
Over the last two weeks we have been sharing ideas on the different media outlets we will use for our project. We have decided to have podcasts (already made), Facebook & Twitter accounts, Live news readings and a Website. I will be assisting with all aspects of the media projects, but mostly with the podcasts and the website. Harrison will be designing the website via photoshop and I will then turn it into a functioning website via muse, adding functionality to buttons and slideshows.You can find more information on the progress of the website via the WordPress website tab.
Nov 14th – Script Issues
Dan has had some issues with his script, our tutors have found some holes and has told us we need to put some more work into the script to make the story more fluid. Dan will have to work on this alongside with the rest of the group for more ideas.
