Filming the Report

With the news report script finalised, I asked my friend Marcus (who does Performance & Media) if he could act as our reporter. This decision benefited us both as he will have something to add to his show real and the team can complete the task. I also thought he would be great at the role because he has done presenting work with me in the past.

I told Marcus to bring smart clothing such as a shirt and jacket (so what he is wearing in the pictures) so that he looked the part and professional. He also brought along his iPad so he had something to read the script from as we could not provide an autocue and him holding pieces of paper would not look good on screen.

Thinking of a location to shoot the news report was quite an easy task because all 5 of us wanted to utilise the balcony on the second floor of the university at some point, and the report would look really great with some scenery in the background rather than be in a dark TV studio. With the location decided, the crew and reporter went up to the balcony on a Friday to shoot, however we could only do a few takes because we did not have a lot of time with the filming equipment.

When we got up to the balcony it was very bright outside so we were wondering what angles we were going to film this. Luckily to the right of us was a shaded part so we tested how the shot looked there and it looked good, no glare or grain. Plus, we were the only ones on the balcony for the duration of us being there which was surprising as it is a popular spot since the new part of the university was built. Chloe was stood by the door to make sure no one would disturb us, whilst Adam was on sound, Harrison on camera, Bethan directing and I who would help Marcus with how he should say his lines and make sure it was perfect.
