Missing people website research.

As a group, we have decided that we like the idea of creating a missing peoples website to go along with the storyline of the missing girls within our short film. In order for us to start creating this website, I thought that it would be a good idea to do some research on existing website, so that we knew what sort of features we should include.

Website 1- Missing kids UK.

Looking at this website, I think it’s really impressive and effective, as the layout is pretty simple. It’s pretty straightforward to follow, as there are no extravagant extras that make it hard to navigate around. I also very much like the use of black and red. To me, the red connotes danger, and when looking at this website I see the urgency and danger behind what is being said. If we could recreate a website that has similar positive attributes to this one, then I will be ver happy with the end result.

Website 2- Missing people.

This second website has a very similar layout to the “Missing kids UK” website. It’s also very simple but effective and is very easy to navigate around. Although, there is more text on this website, which I think is better as it gives the reader more information. Another obvious difference on this website is the colour scheme. This website has got a pink and black theme to it. I would say that this makes it even more appealing and not as harsh.

Website 3- Uk Missing Persons Bureau.

The “UK Missing Persons Bureau” similarly has a similar l. As they are all clearly sectioned into separate boxes, it’s easy for the eye to clearly look at the website and identify what they want to read. I really like the colour scheme of blue on this website as it reminds me of the police. This is effective as it creates a link between the police and the website, which is what they would want. Although the colour scheme is still effective on this website, it’s not my favourite.

Conclusion-

After looking at all of the above websites. I now have a clearer understanding of what I want ours to look like. I think that it should definitely be simple enough that it is easy to navigate around, but not too simple that it looks unrealistic and plain. In my opinion we should use a layout that has its information in different boxes. This way it will be easier for the readers eyes to follow.

The name and header of our website will be an important factor on our website, as it is often the first thing that the reader will see and read. The name has to be simple and effective and instantly tell the audience what our website is for. It also has to look the part, and match the genre of the website. The titles from each of the websites that I researched are very straightforward “Missing people” and “Missing Kids UK”, so this is something that we should also do.

When it comes to the colour scheme, I prefer the use of pink and blues as I think that it stands out and makes it less harsh looking. Images will be an important aspect of the website as well, as they will clearly show the missing persons, as well as a FAQ section under each picture.

I would also like to include social media links on our website, as in the 21st century most things are advertised and influenced on social media, as well as most people being on social media. Therefore it’s an important factor to include.

Hopefully the research that I have done today will help us in creating a more realistic and effective website that could actually be put online as if it were real.
